GRADE 9 “TAKE OUR KIDS TO WORK” DAY 2010

Thank you to all grade 9 students, parents, schools and employers who participated in another successful "Take Our Kids To Work" day! This is an important way of bringing the whole community - students, parents, schools, and employers - together to help our children get a look at the working world at an important time of their lives.  Time spent participating in this important activity, along with the preparation and post reflection assignment, will contribute to students’ District 23 Middle School Career/Life Exploration Activity and their Health & Career Education 9 final mark. This day has been one of the highlights of Grade 9 for many students and their parents.  Visit www.takeourkidstowork.ca for more information.

Some highlights from the day:
"The most enjoyable event that occurred for me was taking the dogs outside for a walk. I really enjoy seeing their faces light up when they know they're going outside. I also enjoyed helping the vets when they needed it. It made me feel good inside knowing I was helping an animal get better and healthier." ~ Cassandra (Animal Hospital)

"Overall watching how many people make the job work with no fighting and everyone is really happy, eg. like a well-oiled machine." ~ Maisie (Excavating Company)

"I really loved organizing and facing the aisles with my dad. He was able to leave me and let me do the work that he assigned me because I was capable of doing that." ~ Courtney (Grocery Store)
