Breakfast Program Makes a Difference

February 16, 2017

Springvalley Middle School students are able to learn each day with a full stomach thanks to the Breakfast for Learning Program.  The Program is coordinated by Pastor Rick Potter, of the Rutland United Church, and supported by many volunteers. A grant from Breakfast for Learning of Canada - which includes gift cards from President's Choice Charity, and monetary donations from the Gary and Maureen Bennett Fund and the Rutland United Church help in the purchasing of food items for the program. The Food for Thought Organization provides bagels, juice, bread and yogurt for the BFL program.  Our students come from widely diverse backgrounds and many families in our community struggle to make ends meet.  Students often come to school hungry but through the BFL program students are greeted by our kind and caring volunteers and a healthy breakfast.  The Springvalley Middle School staff and students are very grateful for all our volunteers and the ongoing donations.  The Breakfast for Learning Program only exists because of all of you. Thank you.
