Principal - Rod Baruta's message for the 2018-2019 school year.
As we prepare for what promises to be another exciting year, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome both new and returning students, as well as parents to Springvalley Middle School.
The start of a new school year is always filled with the promise, excitement and anticipation for students of what the school year has in store for them. During this time, I would encourage you to talk to your child about the goals they want to set for themselves for the upcoming year. Be it academic, extra-curricular or personal, students are far more likely to experience success if they have clear targets in mind for what they would like to accomplish. As the year progresses, take a moment from time to time to revisit the goals your child has set for themselves. By periodically checking in with them, it demonstrates to your child that the goals they have set are not simply a one-time statement that isn't followed through on; rather they serve as an important road map that you value and want to support them in accomplishing.
In further support of each student, I encourage all parents and guardians to take an active role in our school, be it by joining our Parent Advisory Council, volunteering in the school with teams and clubs, or simply by maintaining open lines of communication in the interests of supporting each and every student as they progress through their education.
Finally, as the new school year begins, I very much look forward to all the that year holds in store for us and hope for nothing but success for each and every member of our community as we make the journey together through the middle years!
